Shannon and The Clams on The Moon

This album came out last month, but I have only recently discovered it from clearing my backlog of AV Club music posts. To start with I was not so impressed, as the first half of the album is good without being great and resolutely retro, except for the track The AV Club featured, the excellent Point of Being Right and the very retro but wonderful How Long. However, from the sublime Corvette onwards it is brilliant and more sonically interesting.

They are a threesome from Oakland, USA and this is their 4th album of what has been described as "Etta James, backed up by the 13th Floor Elevators singing Shangri La's tunes." The vocals are quite amazing and veer between John Lennon at his most rock n' roll to Amy Winehouse. You can check out their new LP via Spotify below, but sadly only the latest two are available on Spotify, the debut is also available on Deezer, but not their second.
