Moon Music - Tree Bursts In Snow by Admiral Fallow

The tasters for this album "Beetle in the Box" and the "Paper Trench" were good but were not as great as many of the tracks on Admiral Fallows excellent debut "Boots Met My Face" The production had also become slicker meaning they sounded less like Malcolm Middleton fronting Peloton era Delgados and more like the Malcolm Middleton fronting a side project by Garry Lightbody from Snow Patrol. This is however more interesting than many might think - check out the albums "Son of Evil Reindeer" by the The Reindeer Section (which does actually feature Aidan Moffat the other half of Arab Strap) and the more recent "The Place We Ran From" by Tired Pony. "Beetle in the Box" is very much a grower and much of the rest of the album is more ambitious in a way that fans of "Boots Met My Face" might have expected,  like the opener "Tree Bursts" and "Old Fools".  The production may have got more mainstream but the songwriting does shine through.
