A Top Pop 60 and The Moon Awards 2019

Below is A Top Pop 60 for 2019.  Many of the tracks or artists have of course already featured on the monthlyish Top Moon Tunes, but it kicks off topically with track from a top new LP from Spearmint, a recent re-discovery, and then with the brilliant, previous Moon offending, Michael Kiwanuka -  who is now a bit massive and only on Vevo and so not Playmossable.

It a also has a few previously non-Moon offending artists that have released one or two very promising singles this year and a couple of brilliant topical tracks from Sean Taylor and Martin Simpson that are quite different from their non-boat floating usual stuff.

As for the best of 2019 -  The Moon Awards are:

Best Album :  Power - The Seratones

Every track is a cracker.

Song of the Year: Calm Down AKA I Should Not Be Alone - Ezra Furman

A classic slice of punk with a bit of Rolling Stone inspiration that also manages to represent the state of mind of any vaguely progressive person on either side of the pond.

Best Debut: Compliments Please  - Self Esteem

Self Esteem was my most played artist on Spotify in 2019. Orville Peck is a close second,

Best New Band: The Paranoyds

Some great pre-releases that did not then dominate an impressive debut LP.
