Moon Film Review: Vice

As The Moon's Editor inserted in one of our first reviews of the year, Your Cultural Correspondent (Film) is 'blissfully unsophisticated'. Thus it was that the occasional, perhaps even too often, diversions into 'sophistication' rather spoilt 'Vice' for Your Cultural Correspondent (Film).

That and the film's clear 'libtard' bias, to borrow a word one of the players in the focus group uses over the credits. Said bias of course immediately made Your Cultural Correspondent (Film) wonder if there was life between 2009 and 2017 or whether history stopped in the former year and started again in the latter with the current state of the world not at all, in any way, shape or form, the responsibility, even if only partly, of those who followed the Vice-President in question. And, of course, as we see too often now in political discourse, having a particular 'tard' bias - whether 'libtard' or 'reptard' - enables everyone adopting such labels to avoid dealing with issues and taking responsibility for anything - and dismiss anyone who has a different point of view. But we mustn't get too political for 'sophisticated' diversions and 'libtard' bias aside, the film was splendid.

It's a very interesting story, whatever your political inclination, and the scenes around one of Mr Cheney's daughters are particularly superb. Mr Christian Bale deserves all the plaudits he's getting and Miss Amy Adams deserves equal plaudits for her playing Lynne Cheney. Amongst the others, we also salute Steve Carrell as Mr Donald Rumsfeld and Mr Sam Rockwell as President George W Bush.
