A Moon Top Pop 60 and Moon Awards 2018

In previous years the highlight of this time of year has been the release of the full Moon A Best of  the year, but this year we have had the 10 monthlyish Top Moon Tunes and so instead I have pulled together the most Top Pop tuneage of the year. It is mostly culled from the aforementioned Top Moon Tunes or from Moon Shares plus a handful of new ones.

So it is not a best of the year, more a collection of all the most poptastic non-hits of the year that the vast majority will have never heard of.  A bit different, but not too challenging, for the office Bluetooth/Alexa instead of Radio Santa or whatever...

As for the best of 2018 -  The Moon Awards are:

Best Artist - Aidan Moffat and RM Hubbert

For one top album and then another very good Christmas LP

Best Album -  Ty Segal - Freedom's Goblin

A very early contender that has not been usurped and is now available on Spotify etc.
He has also released another LP with White Fence, but I suspect the songs were outtakes from their brilliant debut collaboration, and also a covers LP.

Song of the Year -  Kamasi Washington - Fists of Fury

Best Debut  - Martha Ffion -  Sunday Best

It is an album that had a long gestation, but was worth the wait and I did not come across many other top debuts. However, there has been a number of  great second albums, such as IDLES and Lucy Dacus.

Best New Artists - Fontaines D.C.

For some cracking singles. Hopefully they will successfully diversify a bit in 2019.

You can open the playlist in your browser to play it without having or opening the Spotify app. You just have to have an account or sign in with Facebook.
