Moon Film Review: The Judge

Would you like to spend two and a half hours in a dimly lit room with this man? Our Cultural Correspondent (Film and Theatre) most certainly would....
Earlier this week Your Cultural Correspondent (Film and Theatre) was discussing with a colleague which films they might be seeing this weekend.  'The Judge' was mentioned.  Said colleague commented, 'I'm not sure about that one.'  To which Your Correspondent (Film and Theatre) replied, 'Two and a half hours in a dimly lit room with Mr Robert Downey Jr.  What's there not to be sure about?'

Anyway, to the cinema to see the film we went this morning.  Let's add a bit of context.  No sooner had the film started than a woman two rows in front of Your Cultural Correspondent (Film and Theatre) began to give free rein to her smoker's cough.  Half way into the film the man in the row in front of Your Cultural Correspondent (Film and Theatre) started snoring.  Loudly.  Then as the film started to reach its climax, Smoker's Cough lifted herself off her seat.  And farted.  Very loudly.

All that context aside, the film was SUPERB.  The script was fantastic and beaten in the fantastic stakes only by the acting of the aforementioned Jr and, above all, by that of Mr Robert Duvall.  Give that man a gong.
