Your Cultural Correspondent (Film and Theatre) thought that Yves Saint Laurent had some moving moments, some lovely music, some even better acting, but a thoroughly unsympathetic central character and some pretty naff couture. Still, YSL knew a love the gift of which is not given to all humans, alack. And, incidentally, the onscreen physical consummation of which caused one man behind your Cultural Correspondent (Film and Theatre) to groan deeply. With displeasure rather than pleasure, we hasten to add.
