A Best of the Rest of Lana Del Rey Part 2

Since the Moon posted A Best of the Rest of Lana Del Rey the "unreleased" tracks from the ever generous Miss Grant have continued to be released via Ubend. Now both Part 1 and Part 2 are available on the Moon via Grooveshark* via the playlist below and an updated version of the original post

Part 2 is an diverse as Part 1, though a bit more "pop" but in a very tongue in cheek way. Some tracks like Live or Die or Butterflies part 1 do make the Moon wonder if she was trying to write songs for artist like Rhianna or Taylor Swift etc. Whilst Butterflies Part 2 sounds like Belinda Carlisle fronting New Order. The excellent Fordham Rd and 1949 must date back to the Phenomena/Sparkle Jump Rope Queen/The Money Hunny Recordings era and there must be nearly an albums worth of material from that period which would make a more grown and bluesy May Jailer like album.

From also around that period comes Pin Up Galore which she performed along with early versions of Yayo many moons ago and is another "one for Dame Shirley Bassey". There are three contributions from "Hiphoppers", Jay Z improves Back to the Basics, the Unknown Rapper on Delicious is great and Miss Grant contributes to Ridin by ASAP Rocky and it is a highlight.

There are also a few alternative versions of Born to Die tracks that highlight how some of her official material has been ruined by the production, Lucky Ones is the best example, the album version manages to lose all the energy that makes the demo great. Without You also benefits from being kept simple and non produced. National Anthem is less plodding than the album version but the strings are great on the album, it would be best if we could have a best of both version. There is also a solo version of Dayglo Reflection, a track she did with Bobby Womack and Damon Albarn, it is not better or worse but it would be interesting to know which came first.

At the end there are some optional extras, she improves on a quite un-Kasiban Kasiban track, there is a great version of the county classic Happiest Girl in the Whole USA and then there is I'm Gonna make you Love me (aka God's Plan) also, one would presume, from the Phenomena/Sparkle Jump Rope Queen/The Money Hunny Recordings period and is great but sadly get cuts off before it ends.

Update and more Lana Del Rey on the Moon - More May Jailer

A Best of the Rest of Lana Del Rey Parts 1 & 2 have  been edited to be a bit more consistent and to not include any of the tracks in  Sparkle Jump Queen, No Kung Foo and More May Jailer

Part 1 now has a track from the sprawling Part 2 and a couple from Part 1 have gone to Part 2. Part 2 is now less sprawling and more consistently poptastic and so BackfireButterflies part 1Live & Die and the demo of This is what Makes us Girls have been taken out. They could all have massive international pop hits for other artists and can still be found on GroovesharkYoutube and probably Soundcloud

MOON ADVERT: Check out  A Best of the Rest of Lana Del Rey Part 4

*Update: Sadly Grooveshark has expired so below it is now embedded using the BTNT player

It should work on PC, Tablet or Mobile. It does not expand to show all 28 tracks but you can scroll through them and click on each track to play them and the bottom left had box will play and pause the playlist. If you double click on the timer bar it will FW or RW.

Part 1  is now available via Soundcloud and Part 3 via BTNT, Sparkle Jump Queen and Sirens Extended are also updated. All of the songs are on either Ubend or Soundcloud.
