Moon Film Reviews: Hacksaw Ridge & Denial

Your Cultural Correspondent (Film & Theatre) thinks that although the 'gore' was in parts to ridiculous as to be almost comical, 'Hacksaw Ridge' is a sensational and important film. They would, in fact, go so far as to say that it is faultless.

The script and the acting are splendid and we must record our admiration for the performance of Mr Andrew Garfield. Unburdened of the hair, both facial and cranial, of 'Silence' and that film's pretension, Mr G gives a grand interpretation in this film.

Your Cultural Correspondent (Film & Theatre) thinks that there is no denying (boom, boom) that 'Denial' is a masterly piece of film-making. All the players shone and there was even a cameo performance from Dame Harriet Walter (was Maureen Lipman not free?). Your Cultural Correspondent (Film & Theatre) could go and on, but let's just say that perhaps the greatest achievement of the defence team was to keep their client's mouth shut - as no doubt their client would themselves agree. Bravo all round.
